Lori Stahlbrand

Lori Stahlbrand is a SSHRC-funded PhD candidate in Geography at Wilfrid Laurier University. She is investigating socio-technical innovation in university procurement of sustainable local food in Canada and the UK. Her research focuses on the role of creative public procurement in sustainable food system transformation, using Sustainability Transition Theory lens. As a former Canadian NGO leader who promoted university procurement of sustainable local food, Lori’s unique perspective is informed by both practice and theory. Lori is also a lecturer in food studies at New College, University of Toronto. Prior to engaging with food issues, Lori was a nationally-recognized journalist and broadcaster with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Areas of expertise: sustainable local food systems, food procurement, regional food strategies, food movements, community food security
